Sitemap

A sitemap is a file that provides information about the pages, videos, and other files on your website and the relationships between them. The most common type for SEO is an XML sitemap, which helps search engines discover, crawl, and index your content more efficiently. Sitemaps are especially valuable for large websites, sites with complex architecture, new websites with few external links, or sites with rich media content that might otherwise be missed by search engine crawlers.

Types of Sitemaps

  • XML sitemap: For search engines, lists all important URLs
  • HTML sitemap: User-friendly page listing for navigation
  • Image sitemap: Specifically for images and visual content
  • Video sitemap: Provides metadata about video content
  • News sitemap: For news websites with timely content
